Orlando’s Hidden Gem: My Day at Dezerland

By James Potts

If you ever find yourself in Orlando and think the only things worth doing are Disney and Universal… think again. Tucked away off International Drive is Dezerland Orlando, and trust me — this place is next-level fun.

I went with my brother Nathan, and the adventure started before we even walked through the door. We found a Groupon deal for just $19.99 entry (score!), but of course we upgraded to VIP. Why? Because VIP meant one magical thing: we got to sit inside the cars. And not just any cars — movie legends.

🦇 Holy Batmobile!

Sliding into the 1960s Batmobile was my first pinch-me moment. Okay, it was a replica, but the real one was parked right behind me. Either way, it felt iconic.

⏰ Great Scott! The DeLorean

Next stop: the Back to the Future DeLorean. Sitting there, hands on the wheel, I half expected sparks to fly and the flux capacitor to light up. Pure childhood nostalgia.

🍸 Bond Vibes

The highlight for my inner 007 was slipping into the driver’s seat of Goldfinger’s Rolls-Royce. For a second, I was James Bond, minus the tux.

👻 Who You Gonna Call?

And then… the Ghostbusters Ecto-1. Sitting inside that beast of a car made me feel about eight years old again, and yes, Nathan and I may have sung the theme tune on repeat.

🎮 Beyond the Cars

Dezerland isn’t just cars though. There’s a full arcade (retro + VR), go-karts that fly, trampolines, bowling, and enough food to keep you fuelled all day. Nathan and I went from racing each other to downing burgers and milkshakes like we were in an American road trip movie.

✨ Final Thoughts

Dezerland is the perfect mix of nostalgia, adrenaline, and family fun. You don’t need to be a car geek to love it — but if you are, prepare to geek out hard.

Would I go back? 100%. But next time, I’m bringing more friends, because this is one of those places that’s too good not to share.
