Best time to visit Barbados

Barbados is a dream holiday destination for many people. When it comes to planning the perfect vacation, you need to take into account many factors. This is especially true of the best time to visit Barbados. It’s generally assumed that you go on holiday when you can get time off work or when the kids have broken up from school. However, this might not offer the best holiday experience.

Consider the Barbados Weather

Hurricane season in certainly not the best time to visit Barbados.

The Caribbean is a weather climate like no other. If you travel at the wrong time, you could find that your trip is impaired by the overwhelming heat. Some people have no trouble adapting to temperature, whereas for others it comes as a shock. It is not just warmth it is also humidity which can make it difficult to do any more than lazing by the pool. While this might not sound too bad, you will want to see some of the sights of the island before you leave. With that in mind, January through April are the best climate times to visit. The mercury will hit about 27 degrees Celsius which is undoubtedly hot.

Hurricane Season is definitely not the best time to visit Barbados

From June the hurricane season starts, although it is fair to say the worst storms generally occur from August. While hurricanes rarely hit the island directly due to its sheltered position in the east, the rainy season can limit sightseeing plans. Temperatures also creep up to 30 degrees Celsius. This may only be a few degrees but can make a lot of difference to the comfort levels. If you get caught up in a hurricane, this could well ruin your holiday.

Money Matters

Money matters when considering the best time to visit Barbados.

While it may not be the prime concern when booking a dream vacation prices, soar from the middle of December right through to April. In part, this is due to the favourable climate, and of course national holidays like Easter and Christmas. From September through October, the region is at its quietest. This might mean prices are lower, but it also means that many hotels and restaurants use this time to close. Not to mention having to deal with maintenance issues etc., so your time could be limited.

The Winner

So with all this information in hand, the best time to visit Barbados is probably the month of May. Average maximum daytime temps are still up in the high 20’s with 29 easily possible. The inflated prices have fallen and are back to normal and although the weather may not be quite as good as the months before they indeed are not far off. You will find plenty of sunshine without the worst of the humidity and should find that rain is a distant memory for the duration of your trip.

The half term break in May will see inflated prices but not to the same degree as those around Christmas and the summer holidays, so if it is essential to travel when the children are off school that is by far the best bet. If that does not fit into your schedule, the other option is the first half of December before the prices fly and it is still 28 degrees.

The real winners are those that go to Barbados in larger groups and big families where they can rent large Luxury Barbados Villas at a fraction of the cost of traditional accommodation.
